Reece Shephard – Up and coming

Last month saw a new driver step in for Team Wraith. Marcus’s son, Reece Shepard. Reece is one of our youngest drivers in RHPK and just recently moved into Pro-Karting.

Name: Reece Shephard

Team Name & Number: Team Wraith, 21

Karting Experience: 2 Years

Give us an overview of your Karting experience so far, where did you start, what series did you race in? What tracks e.t.c.

I started in the junior Subaru class, which in my opinion is the best junior class out there. I raced the Subaru at lydd In my first year against some very good drivers, and managed to claim 3rd in the championship.
I then raced in the junior Subaru championship for a short while where I collected novice awards each race.

I stopped Subaru as a result of being 8kg over because I was the oldest, therefore biggest driver. Then went into prokart at lydd. Where in my first race I finished 4th. I have only done 2 races at lydd in prokart,  looking promising for the future!
Last month I raced with RHPK with Derek from team wraith and finished 8th.

How do you find Pro-Karting compared with what you’ve been doing for the last few years?

I think prokarting is one of the best classes around. Not only are the grids always the big, but the paddock is always so friendly. The racing is always very close and fair.

So first time racing in Team Wraith and RHPK in August, how did you find it?

I loved racing in the rhpk, because everyone was so friendly and welcoming, I loved racing in a grid of 28! Rye is a demanding track which made it even more fun. Team wraith have helped me a lot in my previous racing so o would like to say thank you to dad and Derek for the help, support and the opportunity to be apart of the team.

It’s fair to say Team Wraith have had some bad luck this year in RHPK, are you looking to join them going forward?

I would love to continue to race with them, but we have not had the chance to catch up and discuss if I will become a permanent part of the team, but for now I’m just looking forward to see what the future will bring me.
