2017 Clubman Championship – The Fight

2017 Clubman Championship – The Fight

With less than 2 races to go and the countdown already ticking for Round 8, the Championship is very much alive!

JND Racing currently lead the Clubman Championship

JND Racing currently lead the Clubman Championship

It’s fair to say JND have driven a flawless debut season, let’s not forget this is the team’s first race with their own kart. Jaunius coming from JRH Racing last year, no doubt has made a big impact on the team and their position in the Clubman standings thus far, coupled with their pace.

Behind JND we see a mighty battle between 8 teams all fighting for position.

Polish Lambo

The Sausage fueled team has brought a vast amount of value to the series, feeding the entire field each round and raising a substantial amount of money. All bets were on Polish Lambo last month for Round 7 after their debut win in Round 6. However, some bad luck and call for wet tyres has potentially taken them out of the running for the 2017 Clubman win – its far from over yet though!

The team sits 29 points behind JND Racing in second. What a debut for the team. Their first year of RHPK and have achieved no less than 3 Clubman pole positions and 1 fastest lap. Can they win? It’s possible – but some considerable bad luck is needed for their rival.

Amigos 2

Amigos 2

Despite a dire first couple of rounds, the team has been fighting back! 2nd place in round 4 and 6 – just missing out on the win! Their pace has been quicker as the season has unfolded, backed up by 2 fastest lap rounds in Clubman. They currently sit 3rd place, 13 points behind Polish Lambo and just ahead of Artifex Racing. Can they do it? They stand a very strong chance in the next couple of races to catch up Polish Lambo providing they have no further bad luck.

Burton Power Racing

Burton Power Racing

Burton Power, our Season sponsor has had a solid year despite qualifying lower than most of their rivals each round. The team started off very strong with a string of 4th places at the start of the season. They are currently sitting in 4th place with 242 points, 3 behind Amigos 2 and 2 in front of Artifex Racing.

It’s fair to say the team has not evolved in the later part of the season as other teams have pace-wise, but this has been down to problems with the Chassis which the team have seemed to have ironed out now.

Artifex Racing

Artifex Racing

Artifex Racing

Artifex is currently sitting in 5th place with 240 points, just two points behind Burton Power Racing and even closer, KA Racing behind them by just one point. The team has celebrated a well deserved 3rd place this year and have looked strong in the second half of the season despite a call for Wets in Round 7!

Based on the last couple of rounds they look favorite to take Burton Power for 4th, but the mighty strong KA Racing is just a point behind them!

2017 Artifex driver, Sammy Venables has been the talk of the RHPK rumor mill in the last couple of rounds. Who will he be driving for next year!?

KA Racing

KA Racing

KA Racing

This year KA Racing has been stronger than ever. The team has taken 3rd place in class in round 2 and the fastest lap in round 3. Despite their rather strong start to the season, the last couple of rounds have been their weakest, placing them a little further down the standings. KA Racing are just 1 point from Artifex and 5 points ahead of March Racing.

Can they make their way up the standings? if the team can capture the speed they had at the start of the season, we will see them jump up the leaderboard.

March Racing

March Racing

Another brand new team this year and what a start to the 2017 Season. A debut win in their first race! The team backed by BBM were looking strong at the start of the season to go head to head with JND Racing. In the latter half of the season, the team has had some bad luck which has taken them out of the fight at the front for the Clubman Championship.

The team sit just 5 points behind KA Racing, on 234 points and just one point ahead of Team CET. If Mike and the boys can bring it back to the front of the Clubman grid, I’m sure we will see them rise up the standings. If not, it’s been a real rollercoaster of a year – their attitude, sportsmanship, and pace is something to be proud of.

Team CET

Team CET

Team CET

The guys from CET have achieved so much in 2017. From the RHPK Winter Cup, where Mup was sitting in Pole Position as they won the qualifying draw to a number of podiums and that immaculate finish record which every team would aspire to. The team is sitting in 8th place on 233 points, however, unlike most the team have really come on in the latter part of the year. The last two rounds they have celebrated 4th place.

SJ Lambo

SJ Lambo

SJ Lambo

SJ Lambo has had some almighty bad luck this year, tugging on the heartstrings of our commentator, Chris McCarthy. It has been an all to familiar sight this year, the kart of SJ Lambo has been parked up in the pits for a number of reasons. Last round the team turned around all of their bad luck to take an incredible win. SJ Lambo is last on our list, they sit just 3 points behind Team CET with 230 points

If we can see a repeat of last month, no doubt the team will jump up the leaderboard.
