Oil Control Rings – RHPK Statement

Oil Control Rings – RHPK Statement

by August 3, 2022 0 comments

As mentioned in our previous update, it has been brought to our attention that an engine supplier/tuner has been using non-standard Honda Control rings.

Upon this discovery, Kelvin Nichols, Our trusted scrutineer, has been working furiously on developing a tool in order to check the control rings trackside. We have worked with Kelvin and spoken to Motorsport UK on the matter.

The engine tuner in question has assured us that, all of the control rings where appropriate, have been changed. If you are in any doubt we strongly suggest you speak with your engine tuner of choice before Saturday, as previously flagged.

Actions

  • We firmly believe that none of our competitors knew of this infringement and will not be retrospectively penalising teams as a result.
  • No new/returning teams will be permitted to race this Saturday without assurances from the affected engine tuner that work has been completed to ensure they are fully compliant.
  • We will be starting the race at 13:00 to allow an additional hour for scrutineering. Qualifying from 11:30.
  • There is intent, from a technical perspective, to ensure that engines comply with the regulations following the event on Saturday.

This discovery has been detrimental to a number of series and put the GX160 Class into a very difficult situation. We would like to thank all of our teams for their continued support and input.

Team RHPK
